The Vice-Regional Minister for Social Cohesion of Public Health and Employment, Costas Zorbas, had a meeting with the President of EKAB, Nikos Papaefstathiou, on Tuesday, June 24, 2020, at the headquarters of the Ionian Islands Region in Corfu.
The protection measures taken by the Ionian Islands Region to prevent the dispersal of Covid -19 but also for the cooperation that exists with all the involved bodies for the beginning of the tourist season at the health level were discussed.
Specifically for the Ionian Islands, the commissioned supply of five ambulances (2 in Corfu, 1 in Kefalonia, 1 in Zakynthos and 1 in Lefkada) and four mobile units for the urban fabric (one in each Regional Unit), with a budget of 737,800 euros, was discussed. financing of the Region, through the Operational Program “Ionian Islands 2014-2020” (date of incorporation of the act 31-10-2019).
The supply of two floating ambulances, with a budget of 500,000 euros, was also discussed, which will be fully funded by the Ionian Islands Region through the NSRF, thus strengthening the sense of security of our fellow citizens, especially those of the small Ionian islands.
“The strengthening and renewal of the ambulance fleet is necessary. The Ionian Islands Region is financing these high-utility projects, which are expected to meet the health needs of the residents and visitors of our islands. We support EKAB “, stressed Mr. Zorbas.
Mr. Papaefstathiou informed Mr. Zorbas about the developments regarding the creation of a decentralized sector of EKAB in Lefkimmi, in order to cover the needs in the southern part of Corfu.
Finally, the President of EKAB was informed by the Deputy Regional Minister of Infrastructure and Technical Works Manolis Orfanoudakis about the progress of the EKAB repair project in Corfu, a project undertaken by the Ionian Islands Region, with a budget of 40,000 euros.
